ARTISTS IN DIRECT SUPPORT (A.I.D.S) is a community based organization of volunteers whose area of work is HIV/AIDS education through the use of theatre.
 

 

Since our inception in 1992, we have moved from a core of five members to a registered body of some fifty persons, 10 seniors and 40 youths. We are also one of the eight N.G.O involved in the Guyana HIV/AIDS/STI/Youth Project Funded by USAID. Artiste in Direct Support is responsible for the communication aspect of the project, which is: The Production of Television, Radio & Print Advertising, and Brochures.

Workshop

Artistes In Direct Support has been involved in Street Theatre and Peer Education and Drama Workshops. We have completed our first video production "A Force To Reckon" which is aired on all the Television Stations In Guyana.
AIDS drama

 

Our major production yearly is "THE FLAME & THE RIBBON" which is staged on World Aids Day, Dec 1, at the National Cultural Center and so far this show was held in regions 3,6 & 10. We have also conducted workshops in these regions.
 

Ready Body workshop

Our plans include the establishment of the "Keith Andre Sobryan Drop-In Center" for people affected by and living with HIV/AIDS.
